Vision
Statement:
Redefining Life with the refreshing news of Jesus
There is a difference between existing and living. Ephesians 2 says that we were
dead in our trespasses but the God, being rich in mercy, made us alive together
in Christ. Our vision is centered around the Gospel, the good news of Jesus
Christ, that we are people who deserve the worse punishment possible, but we are
so incredibly loved that through no effort of our own Jesus died on a cross to
reconcile us to Himself. We believe that there's much more to offer than
religion or mere existence. Our mission is to redefine life with the refreshing
of news of true life in Jesus Christ.
Core
Values:
Redefining Life Through Worship
Romans 1:16, Romans 12:1, 1 Corinthians 2:2, Colossians 3:16, 1 Timothy 4:6-10,
1 Peter 3:14-15
We worship and teach a message that is Christ focused, not man focused. Our
songs and our messages are based on a huge God, they tell about Him, they tell
about His Holiness, His Sovereignty, and His Grace. But worship is more than
just four songs on Sunday mornings! Romans 12:1 says that our entire lives
should be living sacrifices, pleasing and acceptable to God. At The Springs
we'll do anything to live lives that constantly bring Glory to the only being
that deserves our worship everyday, not just on Sunday.
Redefining Life Through Community
Acts 2:42-46, Acts 4:32-37, Romans 12:9-21, Galatians 6:1-2, James 5:13-20,
Titus 2:2-6
Community is a basic concept of scripture, even through God's revelation of
himself as the triune God-head we see that we weren't meant to do life by
ourselves. Church is not a meeting that you attend or a place that you enter,
it's an identity that we share as believers. At The Springs, true missional
communities are where relationships are formed. They are open doors for us to
bring our friends and our neighbors in and live out God's grace. We also believe
that community is where deep spiritual growth happens. It's where confession and
accountability with people who love you can take place and where deeper
discipleship can be talked through amongst other believers. This is way more
than attending a small group, this is living life together.
Redefining Life Through Being Disciples
Matthew 16:24-25, Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 10:29-20, Romans 12:1, Galatians 2:20
In the Great Commission Jesus links being a disciple to obeying what He says.
True discipleship is way more than head knowledge! Being a disciple is a
whole-life identity, not just something that happens during Bible studies! We
place high priority in becoming true disciples of Christ, and while this
involves learning truth, it doesn't stop there. We are people who recognize that
the call to come and see ends with a call to come and die and to chase after God
with every part of our lives, no matter the cost because in view of the cross,
we can no long have any agenda that is not God's agenda.
Redefining Life Through Generosity
Malachi 3:8-10, Luke 16:10-13, 2 Corinthians 8:1-15
When you realize that it's radical grace that saves you and not good works, it
will change your life and lead to you becoming a generous person. Life is more
than living for yourself, your gain, and your security. In view of the cross, we
can only respond by offering our entire lives in whatever way will help to
advance the The Kingdom further. That means we offer every last bit of our
money, time, energy, efforts, and thoughts to be Jesus hands and feet to the
communities around us.
Redefining Life Through Missional Living
Micah 6:8, Jeremiah 29:7, Matthew 25:35, Matthew 28:18-20, Luke 12:33, Acts 1:8,
2 Corinthians 5:11-21, James 1:27
You can't
be committed to the Gospel without being committed to proclaiming the good news.
We are a church that is for our community, not just in it. We are a church that
exists for the people outside of the church. We do this by welcoming all people
in, no matter history or current struggles. We're all messed up and only through
Jesus can we be made right. We also are a church body that will sacrifice for
the transformation of the communities around us by radically giving up
everything needed to reach people with the Gospel. So, at The Springs, this
means thinking of our homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, entertainment venues,
the places we take our children to, etc all as mission fields. There is no such
thing as a believer who is not called into full-time ministry. |
